If you search google for ‘wine’, guess what will be the top search result you get?
Nothing to do with the beverage ‘wine’…
but rather ‘Wine Development HQ’!
Wine also stands for windows emulator (for especially linux) and is very popular software. So popular it outranks the beverage wine (as at Jan-10 anyhow).
Wine, broad match, has 1000s of search per day. The problem is that many of these searches are for the software so if you bid on this keyword you’re wasting money and will probably end up with a poor click through rate and therefore quality score.
That means Google will price you out of bidding for this keyword.
So what do I do?
You add negative keywords such as
- open source
- software
- windows
- applications
- operating systems
And you should be okay.
